MONICA’S STORY

“My daughter said, ‘I think I’ve found a goldmine, Mum’

She was right.”

“I stayed at the Lodge twice for respite and thought it was lovely. I met the staff and saw the beautiful gardens and I was impressed. When I first saw my apartment, it was empty, but when I came in and saw the outlook, the garden and the trees from my balcony it was perfect for me.”

I feel very safe here, that’s a big thing particularly when you get older.

“I love to put the radio on and read my book in the afternoons. It’s just so peaceful, and if I don’t feel like staying in my room, I can go downstairs. There’s always someone to talk to, or somewhere nice to sit. I like to read and have a good book on the go, and they have a good library here.

The care staff are lovely people. They’ll do anything for you. More than you ever ask for, they really love their job.I have suggested to several friends that they should come here. We’re looked after so well and it’s just a great place to be. I always loved going to the hairdresser and I visit the hairdresser every week here at Hunters Hill Lodge.I also see the podiatrist that comes here and go to Theo’s exercise class. It’s good for me, I feel better when I go and it’s a highlight of my week.”

I’m always very happy to walk in that door. Hunters Hill Lodge is home now.

“My daughter pops in so often and she knows I’m happy and she’s happy too.”
